Born in Opelika, Alabama, on December 25, 1950, to the proud parents, the late Mr. Charlie “CJ” and Mrs. Annie Hollie Burton. Eddie James Burton dedicated his life to service both to his country and to those he loved. A proud member of the United States Army, he served with distinction and courage embodying the values of duty, integrity and sacrifice. His time in uniform shaped not only his character, but also the lives of those who served alongside him.

Beyond his military service, Eddie James Burton, was the cornerstone of his family. He was a husband whose love was steadfast, a father whose wisdom and warmth guided his children through life’s challenges and a grandfather whose laughter lit up every room. His presence was a gift; steady, generous and always uplifting.

To his friends, he was a confidant, a cook, a fisherman, a carpenter and a source of endless encouragement. To his community, he was a strong superman, always ready to lend a hand or share a smile. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the values he instilled, and the memories he created.

Eddie James Burton leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife, Ethel "Pam" Burton of Columbus, GA; his children, Jacques (Keisha) of Douglasville, GA, Jason (Pamela), Jacinta (Tremayne) of Columbus, GA., and Jonathan (Lucretia) of Snellville, GA; his grandchildren, Deangelo, Davian, Destiny, Sabrina, Kayla, Jordan, Kimber, Kamron, Javon, Tremya, Tremayne, Jr., Tre’Lynn, Trevion and Layla; his great-grandchildren, Jace, Nolan, Gia, Jimmy, Jr., and Jaire; his siblings, Catherine Jones of Dumfries, VA, Dorothy Hughley, of Opelika, AL, Mary (Carey) Green of Fishersville, VA, Charlie (Anita) Burton of Opelika, AL, Myrtis (James) Daniel of Auburn, AL and Reverend/Dr. Robert (Reverend/Dr. Diane) Burton of Jonesboro, GA; Carolyn McCurdy, of Opelika, AL, a host of nieces, nephews, many extended family members and friends who will carry his spirit forward.
