Elizabeth Powell Alford, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, 71, of Cataula, GA died Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Columbus Hospice House after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Gene Wiseman and Rev. Heather Scarborough officiating. Interment will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Alford was born May 16, 1945 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late George and Delia Cantrell Powell. She was a graduate of Pacelli and worked as an Administrative Assistant at Synovus. Mrs. Alford was a lifelong member of Holy Family Church and a teacher in the Parent Child Enrichment Program in Harris County for 5 years. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved teaching Sunday school and was an avid gardener.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Alford, brother, William Powell, and other beloved family members.
Survivors include her husband, John Alford of Cataula, GA, children, Jennifer Domonkos (Nandor) of Columbus, GA, Catherine "Jo Jo" Thompson and Suzanne Williams (David) all of Cataula, GA, and grandchildren, Nickie Thompson of Columbus, GA, Luke Harvey of Cataula, GA, Sarah Domonkos of Columbus, GA, Delia Jane Williams and Norah Williams both of Cataula, GA.
