Emerry D. Watkins, Jr., 89, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, August 23, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 29, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gregg Runnion officiating. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Watkins was born June 17, 1926 in Columbus, GA son of the late Emerry D. Watkins, Sr., and Glennie West Watkins. He was a U.S. Navy Veterans and retired as a shoe salesman in numerous shoe stores. Mr. Watkins was a lifetime member of Central Christian Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Carolyn Wills Watkins, brother, David Kenneth Watkins, and sister, Mary Ann Watkins Engelhardt.
Survivors include son, Barry C. Watkins, Sr. and daughter-in-law, Cornelia "Connie" Rodgers Watkins of Columbus, GA, daughter, Lauralynn Camille Watkins Hall of Grandberry, TX, six grandchildren, Barry C. Watkins, Jr., Stephanie Sue Watkins Clark, Elizabeth Carolyn Watkins Wells, Jennifer Whiddon, Arthur Price and Eva Hall, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Betty Watkins of Columbus, GA, and many nieces and nephews.
