Emily Ford, a remarkable woman whose spirit radiated warmth and kindness, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 19, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on November 12, 1933, in Frederick, Maryland, Emily was a luminous presence in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
Throughout her life, Emily devoted herself to the care and nurturing of her family. Her husband, Richard Ford, who has predeceased her, was the love of her life, and together they built a home filled with love of adventure and travel, and cherished memories. Their bond was a testament to companionship and commitment.
Emily found immense joy in gardening, showcasing her green thumb with pride. Her ability to coax life from the soil mirrored her approach to family and friendships—always fostering growth, resilience, and beauty among those she loved.
Emily was particularly known for her ability to make Christmas a magical experience for her family. Each holiday season she enjoyed creating unforgettable traditions that they hold dear. It was in these moments, surrounded by her loved ones, that Emily truly shined, embodying the essence of joy and celebration.
Beyond her familial duties, Emily was a beloved friend to many. Her friendly personality drew people in, and is remembered by many who cherished their moments together, finding comfort in her friendship and warmth in her smile.
Emily leaves behind her daughters, Lynn Taylor and Merry Dobbe, and her son, Rick. She loved dearly and found great pride in her nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Columbus Hospice for the care and love the staff demonstrated daily as they cared for Emily during her last days. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Emily's memory to Columbus Hospice.
