Emiro Cesar Miranda, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 8, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia, at the age of 81. Born on March 1, 1944, in Plato Magdalena, Colombia, Emiro's vibrant spirit was matched only by his great love for music and laughter.
Emiro's journey was one of dedication and service. He proudly served in the United States Army for 20 years, where he demonstrated unwavering commitment to his country and a deep-seated sense of duty that would characterize his personal and professional life. Following his military service, he continued to embody the values of service as a corrections officer at the Jack T. Rutledge Corrections Facility in Columbus, Georgia. Throughout his career, Emiro touched the lives of many, always approaching his work with a great sense of purpose.
Those who knew Emiro will cherish the memories of his infectious laughter and warm nature. With a great sense of humor, he had a unique talent for making others laugh. Emiro loved all music, but his heart beat the loudest for the vibrant rhythms of salsa and merengue. He was at his purest form when dancing, his feet moving to the rhythm while a smile spread across his face, sharing with everyone the joy that radiated from his spirit and the number of jokes he could crack in a single breath.
Emiro was a devoted family man, respected and loved by all. He shared a beautiful 50-year union with Maria Miranda, his loving wife, who stood by him through the highs and lows of life. Together, they created a family that has become a testament to the love they cultivated together. Their legacy continues through their children: Emiro Miranda Jr and his wife, Kamilah; Daughter, Elianna Miranda and life partner, Charles Miller; Elijah Miranda and his wife, Raina; along with their cherished son, Edberg Miranda. He is further survived by his beloved grandchildren, Asher, Jackson, Sydney Mae, Lola, and Javier Miranda
Emiro also leaves behind brothers Lacides, Julio, and Humberto Miranda, and sisters Lourdes, Sixta, Ruth, and Gloria, who remember him for his charm and silliness. He was a light in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him, and his memory will forever be held dear in the hearts of his family and friends.
