F. Elaine Sheets, 74 of Columbus, GA died Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Piedmont Midtown Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4400 Reese Road Columbus, Ga. 31907 with Bishop Burgamy officiating. A private burial will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory.
Elaine was born March 3, 1945 in Columbus, OH daughter of the late Rose Mary Firman and McClellan Anthony Johnson. She was a retired nurse serving the community for many years where she received numerous awards to include the Frist Humanitarian Award in 2000. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, loved being a mom, volunteering her time for numerous community organizations, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye Football and TBDBITL Fan. Those that knew her wish to be like her and those that met her never would forget her.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, John Sheets of Columbus, GA, daughter, Megan Sheets of Norcross, GA, son, Patrick Sheets of Columbus, GA, brother, David Johnson of New Lexington, OH, grandchildren, Tori Mayes and Celine Sheets, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to PAWS Humane Society, 4900 Milgen Road Columbus, Ga. 31909.
