Gianna "GiGi" Diane Lindsey, 10, of Ft. Mitchell, AL died Monday, January 4, 2016 in Upatoi, GA.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 11, 2016 at Cascade Hills Church 727 54th St. Columbus, GA 31904 with Pastor Reggie Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Gianna was born on June 23, 2005 in Atlanta, GA. She is the daughter of Shameika Averett and Guyana "Gene" Lindsey. She was a 5th grade student at Ridgecrest Elementary, a very active Girl Scout with Troop 50387. She danced with Columbus School of Music and Dance for several years and was also a cheerleader with the YMCA for the 2013 season. Gianna loved reading, school, and being with her friends and family. Gianna recently placed 2nd place in her school grade Spelling Bee and was scheduled to participate in the schoolwide Spelling Bee. Gianna previously attended Kingdom Metropolitan Worship Center.
She is preceded in death by one uncle and three aunts; most recently her grandmother, Gloria Jean Short, her uncle Caleb Short and Robert Harold Averett.
She is survived by her parents, Shameika Averett and Gene Lindsey, brother Zion Lindsey, paternal grandmother, Brenda Lindsey of Ashville, NC, maternal grandfather, Robert Short of Upatoi, GA, aunts Lindsey (Joseph) Roberson and Shamika Lindsey, uncles Keith (Maria) Lindsey, Kenneth Lindsey, Sean Lindsey, Kevin Jones and a host of other relatives and friends.
