Gil then continued his career at TSYS for 32 years, making hundreds of lifelong friendships with both his clients and coworkers.
Outside of work, he found joy in the simple things in life—fishing, playing golf, spending time at the beach, and bird hunting alongside his daddy and three boys. He especially loved the years he spent coaching his sons in baseball.Gil never met a stranger and seemed to know someone everywhere he went, even when far from home. He valued his friendships deeply and made a point to call and check in on the people he cared about often. Known for his quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor, he had a special way of making others laugh and bringing joy to those around him.
Gil is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ellon Weed McKinstry of Columbus, GA, sons: Daviss McKinstry (Leeanna Blume), Autra McKinstry (Carley), and Paxton McKinstry of Jacksonville, FL sisters: Michelle Brown (Wendell) of Columbus, GA and Mindy Barber (Joel) of Birmingham, AL, granddaughter: Isla June McKinstry, and several nieces and nephews.
