Ms. Sears was born on December 3, 1931, in Tomah, Wisconsin, to the late William and Evelyn (Dunlap) Peardot of Tomah. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Debra Sellers-Rocha and Doreen Sears; her son, Duwayne Sears; and her sisters, Noreen Formella and Elaine DeFord.
She began working with the residents at Peabody Apartments, teaching them how to clean their ovens and stoves. She later accepted a position as a Work Order Supervisor with the Columbus Housing Authority for over 30 years before retiring. She enjoyed painting, reading, puzzles, cooking and baking. She loved to try new recipes. Before the death of her daughter, Debra, she and Debra enjoyed finding and restoring furniture together. She also had a passion for flowers and plants.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Darby and Peggy Sears of Box Springs, GA; a brother, Don Peardot of Lacrescent, MN; Son-in-law, Frank Rocha (Kay), Grandsons, Shawn Sellers (Dawn) and Curtis Sears; Four Great Granddaughters and three Great Grandsons; several nieces and nephews. Gloria also enjoyed outings with her extended family, Cammy Currie and Marty Harrell.
The family thanks Nikki Storey, Allison Owen, Bridget Tarver, and the entire Columbus Hospice staff for the love and care they gave our mother during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to make donations to Columbus Hospice in memory of Gloria Peardot Sears.
