H. Norwood Pearce, 73, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Columbus Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Dick Reese officiating. A private family interment will be held at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Pearce was born December 18, 1944 in Columbus, GA son of the late Harvey Homer Pearce and Ida Harrell Cook Pearce. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and was an avid supporter of the Bulldogs. He then graduated from Walter F. George School of Law from Mercer University. Mr. Pearce served four years in the GA House of Representatives and was a former GA State Senator. After practicing Law, he and his two sons ran a business at Ray's Jewelers in Phenix City and then Ray's Golf Carts in Columbus. Mr. Pearce was a Methodist by faith.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Michael Pearce.
Survivors include his loving wife, Marjorie Whaley Pearce, son, Harvey Norwood Pearce II (Kristie), daughter, Trellys Graber (Tim), son, Joseph Pearce (Martha), and 8 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Autism Speaks www.autismspeaks.org in honor of his two grandsons.
