Harold Wayne Morris, Sr. affectionately known as “Poppop”, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 14, 2026 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907, with Rev. Dr. Scott Hagan and Pastor Judy Hay officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
Harold was born on August 6, 1938 in Columbus, GA to the late Grover and Emma Morris. He attended Jordan High School and worked at Sunshine Biscuit for over 40 years.
He was very active coaching youth sports at American Little League and Pop Warner Football.
Harold married Jean Faulkenberry on September 6, 1958. They were married for 56 years. After they both retired, they spent their days with their grandchildren, traveling, and hosting friends and family. He was an active and faithful member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Columbus, GA for over 30 years. While there, he was part of the HIS Group and Vintage Group, Head of Trustees, and was Epworth UMC Man of the Year in 2000.
Harold loved being around people, but mostly his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed mornings at Chick-Fil-A with his family and an afternoon coffee with his buddies. Harold spent many hours at the St. Francis Wellness Center exercising and socializing.
Other than his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Johnny, Mary Andrews, Buddy, Earl, and Roy.
He is survived by his children, Harold Wayne Morris, Jr. (Diane), Randy Morris (Leslie), Debra Ledbetter (Gary) and Mike Morris. Also his grandchildren, Shane Morris (Heather), Alyssa Francisco (Tim), Blaire Willis (Cam), Matthew Ledbetter (Mackie), Lindsey Fossa (Corey), Amanda Morris, Elizabeth Ledbetter and Natalie Rhodes (Morgan), great-grandchildren, Mason, Mackenzie and Moxon Morris, Alex, Lucy and Lily Francisco, Hayes and Banks Willis, Maggie Ledbetter, Camden, Collins, and Baby Boy Fossa, and Bennett Rhodes, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and his wonderful caregivers, Gina Mitchell and Junita Guthrie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Francis Wellness Center 2000 16th Ave. Building 4 Columbus, GA 31901 or Columbus Hospice of Georgia and Alabama.
