Harry Owen Lee, Sr.

Harry Owen Lee, Sr., 91, died Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Parkhill Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907

Harry was born December 22, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri, where he spent his early years. He was drafted to Korea during the conflict and served in the Signal Corps. Upon his return, he married Frances Merritt Lee on May 15, 1954. He ran H.O. Lee Tile Company for many years, and countless homes in the Columbus community bear the marks of his hard work and craftsmanship. In addition to being a loving father and husband, Harry was also a devoted supporter of his children's athletic endeavors, and served as an assistant coach, coach, and manager for little league baseball. Harry was passionate about American history, Greek mythology, and the collection and restoration of antique weapons.

He is survived by his two sons, H. Owen Lee, Jr. and Charles Merritt Lee; his granddaughter Ashley Elizabeth Schley and her husband, Francis Brooking Schley IV; sister-in-law Mary Merritt of Augusta; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. His life will be celebrated as those closest to him know he is now reunited with his beloved wife of 64 years and every treasured four-legged family member he loved so dearly.
