Helen Hicks Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, entered her heavenly home on October 14, 2025, at the age of 90. A lifelong resident of Columbus, Georgia, Helen was born on July 14, 1935, to the late Louie and Georgia Sanford Hicks.

Helen graduated from Baker High School in 1953 and remained a proud member of the Baker Girls throughout her life, cherishing the bonds and friendships that lasted through the years. She married the love of her life, the late Al Johnson, and together they shared many years of laughter, love, and meaningful adventures.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Al Johnson, her grandson Brian Whaley, brothers Billie, Henry, Joe, and Charles Hicks, and her sister Margaret Easter. She is survived by her sister Gwen Guest of Columbus, GA; her children Teresa (Greg) Whaley of Fortson, GA, Cindy Myrick of Phenix City, AL, and Bill (Becky) Harrell of Canton, GA; her grandchildren Jennifer Moore, Derek (Angela) Harrell, Justin Myrick, Christopher Harrell, and Will (Kaylin) Harrell; and her great-grandchildren Whaley Rae Deems, Lily and Thomas Myrick, Bryce and Ansleigh Harrell, and Dillon. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Helen’s life was anchored in her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. A longtime member of Evangel Temple, she faithfully served as secretary for Pastor Heath for many years. In her later years, she became a member of Living Grace, where her love for the Lord continued to grow and shine. Her faith was not just something she spoke about—it was how she lived her life.

She expressed her love in quiet, steady ways that left a lasting impact on her family and those who knew her best. She loved to read, knit, and paint, and she found joy in the simple moments shared with family and friends. Helen and Al shared a love of travel, creating precious memories with their loved ones along the way.

Above all, Helen loved Jesus. She trusted Him fully, lived by His Word, and looked forward to the day she would be in His presence. Her faith was her legacy, and it continues to live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who loved her.

In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23

We find peace in knowing she is reunited with her loving husband and family in Heaven and is now resting in the presence of her Savior.
