Hilda Yadira Powell, 78, of Columbus, GA passed away at her residence on Sunday, April 12, 2026 in Columbus, GA. 

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 18, 2026 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Hilda was born February 02, 1948 in Poncé, Puerto Rico daughter of the late Roberto Jiminez and Hilda Ramos Cox. She was a woman of deep love, vibrant spirit and quiet strength. Hilda found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments, especially through her love of reading, often getting lost in stories that reflected her curiosity and imagination.

She had a deep love for music in all its forms, with a special fondness for K-pop that brought her excitement and happiness. Whether listening to her favorite songs or sharing them with others, music was a constant source of joy in her life.

Above all, Hilda cherished her family. She loved fiercely and unconditionally, always putting others before herself. Her kindness knew no limits and she would go out of her way to help anyone in need. She carried a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room, leaving lasting smiles on those around her.

Hilda was adventurous at heart, never afraid to embrace new things or experiences. Through every season of life, she stood beside her husband and family with unwavering bravery and devotion, offering strength, encouragement and endless love.

Her legacy is one of compassion, laughter and resilience and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Survivors include her husband, James Powell, Sr. of Columbus, GA; children, James Powell, Jr. (Mary) of Burlington, NC, Patricia Lassiter Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Bryan Lassiter (Morgan) of Midland, GA, Jason Cole Lassiter (Carina) of Columbus, GA, Joseph Jaure (Alexa Ward) of Mebane, NC; sister, Victoria Dusinberre of Hornell, NY; her aunt, numerous nieces and nephews.
