Ira Richard Newkirk, 69, died peacefully at his home in Columbus, GA, Monday, May 25, 2015.
He was born September 16,1 945 in Troup County, GA to the late Ira Everett Newkirk and Vivian Irene Harmon. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Harmon.
A private memorial service was held Saturday, June 13, 2015.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Newkirk of Columbus, GA; three daughters, Dawn Wurzer and her husband, Bill, of Rochester, NY, Iris Corbett and her husband, Neil, of Salem, AL and Tyree Newkirk of Brewton, AL; two sisters, Catherine Thomas and Ilene Carlyle both of Phenix City, AL; six grandchildren, Victoria and Megan Wurzer, Rochester, NY; Erica Butts, Salem, AL; Andrew "AJ" Butts and Jessica and Brittany Cardwell, Brewton, AL.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 5900 River Road, Suite 301, Columbus, GA 31904.
