James Love, 90, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Columbus Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, with Rev. Lynn McManious officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 4969 GA Hwy 15 South, Vidalia, GA 30474.

James was born October 10,1935 in the Rock Springs Community in Toombs County, GA. He graduated in 1954 from Vidalia High School. After graduation, he started a lifelong career with several Ford dealerships (parts department) throughout this state of Georgia. He retired from Johnson Ford in Crawford, GA in 2000 and moved to Columbus, GA. He married Sara Lou Taylor Love in 2001. On most days he could be found delivering flowers for Flowers Plus, (his stepdaughters family business) or tending to his Great Grandchildren Blakley and Karlee Cummings.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Love Sumner, loving grandfather, JJ Love & his aunt Lillie Love Thompson who raised him, His sister Nell Cox, brothers John Sumner & Pete Sumner & Stepson Mel Lamb.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years Sara Lou Taylor Love, 2 sons Jimmy Love (Renee) of Watkinsville Ga, Johnny Love (Marsha) of Colbert, Stepson Joey Lamb (Melissa) of Canton Ga, Stepdaughter Bonnie Eldridge (Phillip) of Columbus, Ga, 22 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, Sister Wanda Pinckard (Bob) of Brunswick, Ga, special cousin who was more like his sister, Janice Thompson of Reidsville, Ga and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
