James Houston Meeks, 75, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House.
Cremation has taken place with a memorial service that will be held at a later date according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Meeks was born April 6, 1940 in Columbus, GA son of the late Charlie E. Meeks and Lottie Williams McCracken. He retired from Dolly Madison and later worked as a shuttle bus driver for Columbus State University. Mr. Meeks was a member of the Masonic Lodge 128 Wis. Rapids. He also loved gardening and fishing.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Herman.
Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Marilyn McIntyre Meeks of Columbus, GA, son, James "Steve" Meeks (Kathy) of Candler, NC, daughters, Lynnae McGough (Tristan) of Cambridge, WI, Danielle Metzger (Woodrow Johns) of Columbus, GA and Donna Cook (Anayo Onochie) of Columbus, GA, sister, Hazel Andraska (David) of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, brothers, Allen Meeks (Cindy) and Forrest McCracken and brother-in-law, Larry Herman all of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, 12 grandchildren, Michael, Aaron, Ashley, Austin, Brytnny, Rhinnon, Adaorah, Aydan, Haley, Anthony, Andrew and Lillian, 1 great grandchild, Daylynn, and many nieces and nephews.
