Jeff Bass, 88, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Midtown Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Dan MacMinn officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Bass was born March 15, 1927 in Pitkin, LA son of the late Charley and Maudy Bass. He retired from the U.S. Army having served tours of duty in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He later worked for Kinnett Dairies and for Jay Automotive. He was a devoted husband and father, and he had a great sense of humor. Mr. Bass loved fishing, taking his wife dancing, playing basketball. He was an avid LSU fan.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Lynn Bass.
Survivors include his wife, Elvira Pongratz Bass of Columbus, GA, daughter, Dagmar Sperlich of Landshut, Germany, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
