Jeffrey Kenney Averett, 63, of Dawson, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

The Visitation/Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the home of Jeff and Michael at 433 Church Street NE, Dawson, Georgia from 10am - until. Family and friends are welcome to drop by to celebrate Jeff's life, share memories, and pay their respects.

Jeffrey was born on November 22, 1962, to Alva Lamar “Buddy” Averett and Helen Stephens Adams, and grew up in Richland, Georgia. He was the owner of Jeff Averett Designs and spent many years as the visual display manager for SE Marketplace, where his eye for compelling design was evident. He also operated retail booths at The Maze in Americus, Georgia; Livi & Co in Albany, Georgia; and The Warehouse in Cuthbert, Georgia.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents; and his sister, Shirley Davis Ivey.

He is survived by his partner of 30 years, Michael Garrison; one sister Sheila (Stephen) Jones of Rome, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Joe (Judy) Ivey of LaGrange, Georgia; two nieces, Rene’ (Larry) Driggers of Lexington, South Carolina, and Kendall Jones of Rome, Georgia; two nephews, Eric (Allie) Ivey of Buena Vista, Georgia, and Ryker Jones of Rome, Georgia; great nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Those who knew Jeff will remember him for his kindness, laughter, infectious smile, and his love for friends and family. He was incredibly creative, with a natural talent for visual merchandising and a refined eye for interior design that made every space he touched feel thoughtful and inviting. More than anything, Jeff cherished his family and his friendships and leaves behind many who were touched by his warmth, generosity, and genuine spirit.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor his memory may do so in a way that is personally meaningful – whether through a charitable contribution or by extending kindness to others, reflecting the way he lived and loved.
