Jeffrey Wayne Whiten, born March 31, 1965, in Columbus, Georgia, passed away at his home on April 7, 2026, after a short but valiant battle with cancer. His loved ones have no doubt that he “busted Heaven’s gates wide open.”

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, April 10, 2026 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.

Mr. Whiten is survived by his loving wife of nearly 38 years, Sandi Whiten; his children, Caitlin Whiten and Stephen Whiten, both of Columbus, Georgia; his brother, Oliver Frank Whiten, Jr. of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law Shirley Walden (Ben) of Cataula, Georgia; and sister-in-law Carrie Whiten of Houston, Texas; as well as three beloved nieces, Erica Whiten of Victoria, Texas, Callie Fogarty (Jon) of Kingwood, Texas, and Macie Whiten of Denton, Texas. He also leaves behind two cherished four-legged companions, Nala and Brody.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Frank Whiten, Sr. and Daphine Hawley Whiten.

Mr. Whiten found his greatest joy in life’s simple, meaningful moments. He loved hunting and fishing, tending to his tomato plants, and spending quiet time reading his Bible. He was also a devoted fan of Alabama football and Braves baseball, rarely missing a game and always cheering them on with enthusiasm. He never met a stranger and truly cherished time spent talking with friends, always ready to share stories and laughter. Known for his honesty and straightforward nature, he left little unsaid, and while his passing came as a shock to many, there was never any doubt about his deep love and devotion to those closest to him.

Above all else, he loved his family. His high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Sandi, was the love of his life. Together, they built a life centered on faith, love, and unwavering devotion. His family was his greatest pride, and he cherished every moment spent with them, affectionately referring to his wife as “Sandi Dandy,” his daughter as “Kit Kat,” and his son as “Stephen McBeeven.”

Pallbearers for Mr. Whiten’s service are Stephen Whiten, Frank Whiten, Andy Holt, Stacey Trimback, Dusty Cummings, and Larry Cummings, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Howard (“HK”) Johnston, one of Mr. Whiten’s dearest friends.

Mr. Whiten also leaves behind many other relatives who loved him dearly, as well as a large circle of friends he truly considered brothers.
