Jenny Mitchell Collins, 69, has gone home to be with our Lord and Savior. She passed away on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026 in Columbus, GA.

Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Donald Collins; her father, Eugene Mirt Mitchell Jr; her mother, Mildred Brakefield Mitchell; her brother, Eugene Mirt Mitchell III; her sister, Judy Mitchell Arnett; her brother, Barry Aven Mitchell. She leaves behind her son, Clay McCullohs (Anna McCullohs); her son, Stuart McCullohs (Staci McCullohs); her brother, John Dennis Mitchell (Alice Mitchell); her mother in love, Melba Dean Spurlock; her sister in love,Donna Hallman (Bill Hallman); her grandchildren, Collins McCullohs, Benjamin McCullohs, Claire McCullohs, Andrew McCullohs; many adoring nieces, nephews and close friends.

Born on December 9, 1956 and raised in Columbus, GA, the daughter of Gene and Mildred Mitchell. She was the youngest child of five. Jenny was the baby. Separated by an 11 year age gap with her closest in age brother, Barry, Jenny grew up with nieces that were more like sisters due to their closeness in age. She was beloved by all of her siblings. At the age of 6, Jenny was an honorary cheerleader for her brother Barry’s Columbus High basketball team that went on to win a state title in 1962. She would later graduate from Columbus High in 1974 and go on to get her undergraduate degree from Columbus College. Jenny was a people-person. Odds are, if she didn’t know you, she knew somebody you were kin too. She used this gift with people to excel in a career in advertising sales that spanned over three and half decades with The Ledger Enquirer, Sunny 100/Rock 103, WRBL, WFXL (Albany, GA) and WTVM where she finished her career in 2022. Outside of that she gave her everything to raise her two sons Clay and Stuart. Attending her son's sporting events was like a second career and she loved every minute of it. Jenny was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Mike. Married for 34 wonderful years, they set an example of what a marriage should look like for their sons. Jenny was loving, accepting and just easy to talk to. She became an adoptive second mother to family members, many friends of her sons and co-workers through the years. She will be missed by many, but especially by her grandchildren that affectionately called her Jen Jen.

In honor of Jenny, her family will be holding a Celebration of Life Service at Wynnton United Methodist Church, 2412 Wynnton Rd. Columbus, GA 31906 on Saturday, February, 28th at 11:00am. The family will later greet guests in the dining hall at Spring Harbor, 100 Spring Harbor Dr. Columbus, GA 31904. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her honor to Columbus Hospice (columbushospice.com/donate) or to Alzheimer's Association (act.alz.org).
