John Thomas Boyd, Jr. passed away at his home on Thursday, November 9, 2017 following an extended illness.
A private memorial service will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at St. Paul United Methodist Church Illges Chapel according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Tom was born August 26, 1942, in Columbus, GA, son of the late John Thomas Boyd and Charlotte Hatcher Golden Boyd. Tom grew up in Columbus and attended local schools, transferring to Sewanee Military Academy, where he completed his secondary education following Sewanee, he attended Mercer University, where he pledged SAE Fraternity. In 1963, Tom joined the U.S. Navy, where he served until 1966. Following the Navy, he joined Goldens' Foundry & Machine Company. He retired as Vice President of Sales in 2014.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Sandra Griffin Boyd, a daughter from his first marriage, Charlotte Golden Boyd Page, two sons, Sean Rheaume (Audra),
Shannon Boyd (Dawn), and a daughter, Nicole Boyd Little, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren his brother, George Golden Boyd, Sr. (Mary), his sister, Charlotte Boyd Nottingham, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was so loved by his family and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family request
donations be may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
