Johnson B. Hobby, 88, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Gentiva Hospice.
The family will have a private memorial service according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Hobby was born December 23, 1928 in Columbus, GA son of the late Alto G. Hobby and Annie Pitts Hobby. He is the only survivor of eight brothers and sisters. He graduated from Jordan High School where he was active in sports. He was a member of the Masonic Friendship Lodge #706. He was an industrial chemical representative for the duration of his career.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who cared dearly for his dogs, GiGi and Buddy.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his 8 brothers and sisters, and daughter, Jan Hobby McClain.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Horne Hobby, of 70 years of marriage, two daughters, Jenny Hobby Bishop and Betty Jane Hobby, one son Johnson Bass Hobby, Jr., 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
The family has asked for any donations be made to the Humane Society on his behalf.
