June Ann (Brummel) Veenstra of Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at her home.

A memorial service took place at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 6, 2025 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A celebration of life service will also follow in Michigan: join us at 11:00 AM for the service followed by a reception at 12:00 noon, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Grant Christian Reformed Church,13110 Poplar Ave, Grant, MI 49327.

June was born in Grant, Michigan, on September 24, 1938, to Anna (Slachter) Brummel and Lawrence Brummel. June attended Grant Christian, Grand Rapids Christian High school, and Calvin College. As well as a loving mother, she devoted over 30 years to working as a lab technician starting in New Mexico, moving to Illinois, and finally retiring in Georgia. She was known for her dedication to God and community. June loved watching Braves baseball, traveling and exploring, reading mysteries, and cherishing family and friends.

She is survived by her two children, Jim L. Veenstra and Linda M. Veenstra; two grandchildren, Brianna G. Veenstra (Dan) and Jim R. Veenstra; one great grandchild, Reed Fuentes; two brothers, Allen Brummel (Carol) and Henry Brummel (Betty); and other close family members. June will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, persistence in adversity, and her easy laughter. She was God’s gift to everyone who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Meals on Wheels, where she volunteered for many years.
