Ken began his new life in the house of his Lord and Savior on Saturday May 16, 2026.

Although Ken was loved and will be missed in this life, he is where he has longed to be for the past 16 years, with his beloved son, Richard Thomas Kannady Ken was born in Tuscaloosa, AL on April 7, 1946, to Boyd A. Kannady and Clara N. Chalmers.

He spent his life in Columbus, 6A, graduating from Baker High School in 1964 and, in 1965, he joined the U.S. Navy. Upon return from deployment, he began his employment with BellSouth, retiring in 2007. Ken had a 55-year passion for bulldogs and his last one, Honey Bunch, aka “Knucklehead”, already misses him and his treats. He said he wouldn’t take a million bucks for her but wouldn’t give you a nickel for another one just like her.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his second mom, Dora Kannady and his beloved son, Richard. 

Ken is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Boren Kannady, as well as his much loved family, brothers, David (Lynda) Ellerslie, GA, Brent (Susan) of Myrtle Beach, SC, John (Stephanie) of Cumming, GA, sister, Karen (Chris) Floyd of Wilmington, NC, Linda (Doug) McArthur of Wilmington, NC, his wife’s family, whom he dearly loved, as well as many nieces and nephews; grandsons JR and Travis Hall, their mother Kim and their Uncle David.

A celebration of life service will be held 2 PM Thursday, May 21, 2026 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia 31907. A private burial will be held in Parkhill Cemetery.
