Laura Barfield Johnson, 85, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverend Roy White officiating. A private interment will be held at Fairfax Cemetery in Lannett, AL. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Johnson was born February 2, 1930 in LaGrange, GA daughter of the late Joseph Heflin and Vela Mae Sheets Heflin. She retired from Martin Army Community Hospital as a receptionist, and grew up in the Church of the Nazarene.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John Foster Barfield and Herbert V. Johnson, and a daughter-in-law, Sue Barfield.
Survivors include her two sons, Ronald Barfield (Linda) and Terryl Barfield, daughter, Debbie Wade (Steve), brother, Hershel Roberson, four grandchildren, Carol Teaster (Howard), Michael Barfield, Kristin Letlow and Matthew Wade, seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
