Mr. Lawrence “Larry” Wilson McLemore, Jr., age 72 of Midland, Georgia passed away suddenly Friday, December 2nd, 2022 at his home.
Larry was born on August 22nd, 1950 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Lawrence Wilson McLemore Sr. and Elizabeth Duncan McLemore, the youngest of three. He played baseball and basketball for Jordan Vocational High School where he graduated as part of the class of 1968. He continued his baseball career at Columbus College where he also earned his Masters in Education. Larry began his career at Jordan Vocational High School as a teacher and softball and basketball coach. Once retired, he taught for an additional eight years in the Phenix City School System.
He was a steadfast sports fan; he enjoyed watching baseball, basketball, and playing softball. Larry played baseball and softball for many teams around the Columbus area. He loved the Braves, the Georgia Bulldogs, playing golf, and fishing and hunting. He was a great and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Larry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lamalder Faye Harden McLemore; his two sons, Matthew McLemore (Christie) and Bryan “Sunshine” McLemore (Lindsey); seven grandchildren, Halee McLemore, Haley Holloway (Brenn), Peyton McLemore, Cole McLemore, Camden McLemore, Reagan McLemore, and Madison McLemore; brother, Ronald “Ron” McLemore (Randye); sister, Carolyn Elliott.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, December 8th, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 pm at McMullen Funeral Home in Columbus, Georgia.
