Leroy Glisson

Leroy Glisson, 90, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Beallwood Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Duncan officiating. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Glisson was born December 27, 1925 in Pelham, GA son of the late E. G. and Sallie Holland Glisson. He retired after 23 years as a Lab Technician with the Columbus Water Works, was a Deacon at both Oates Ave. Baptist Church and Beallwood Baptist Church. Mr. Glisson loved to fish and watch sports especially the Atlanta Braves.
Other than his parents, Mr. Glisson was preceded in death by his brothers, Willis "Billy" Glisson and Bobby Glisson; sisters, Myrtle Day, Aline Scott and Ellen Draper.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Katie Lou Bell Glisson of Columbus, GA, daughter, Darlene VanPelt of Columbus, GA, son, David Glisson (Tammy) of Ellerslie, GA, 6 grandchildren, Kelli, April, Keith, Courtney, Lindsey and Hayley, and 7 great grandchildren, Samuel, Emily, Katelyn, Bethany, Ethan, Lexi and Shyloh.
Flowers will be accepted, but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Beallwood Baptist Church English Learning Course 4650 Veterans Parkway Columbus, Georgia 31904.
