Lester F. Syphers, Jr., 81, of Americus, Ga. died Saturday, April 05, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 09, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Will Archibald officiating. A private interment will be held in Riverdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Syphers was born November 11, 1932 in Hartford, Connecticut, son of the late Lester F. Syphers, Sr. and Mary Horan Baker. He was an United States Army Veteran serving in WWII and was a life member of the VFW. After is military career, he was employed with Atlas Oil Company as a driver.
Other than his parents, his wife Joan Barefield Syphers preceded Mr. Syphers in death.
Survivors include his stepbrother, Daniel Baker of Texas, two brother-in-laws, Danny Enloe of Americus, Ga., and Gene Enloe of Ocean Park, WA, and many nieces and nephews.
