Ric was born January 29, 1950 in Columbus, GA to Claude and Dana May. Growing up, Ric discovered a passion for the health field that would shape the course of his life. He spent countless hours engaging in his chemistry set skills, and developing a raw sense of humor in developing stink bombs that family and friends did not appreciate prior to Christmas dinner. Ric’s dedication to science led him to pursue a career as a nurse. He attended Columbus State University and graduated with straight A’s and received many degrees in the health field before using his skills at hospitals in Columbus. Later, he landed his dream job at Emory in Atlanta. Ric quickly made a name for himself in the hospital industry, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients due to his abilities.
He enjoyed collecting records; traveling; searching the internet; watching his favorite teams the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and Georgia Bulldogs; and being late to almost everything in life but his own funeral. Sorry Ric but I had to say it. We know you loved us and we love you! His favorite colors were yellow and red. His favorite song was “Talking to Jesus.” His favorite owned cars were 442, Corvette and Volvo.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Rhonda Brannon and Tammy May.
Ric is survived by sister, Cathy Sanders; nieces, Jennifer Danford, Alysia Jenkins and April Brannon.
