Lou Oswalt Williams, 82 of Columbus, Ga. died Thursday, May 10, 2018 at River Towne Nursing Center on Warm Springs Road in Columbus, Ga.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Tony Crosby officiating. A private interment will follow the services. The family will receive friends following the services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Williams was born June 27, 1935 in Phenix City, Al. daughter of the late Mable Powell Oswalt and Ivy Elder Oswalt. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sisters, Vernice Oswalt Rowe, Maggie Oswalt Ellison, (infant) Betty June Oswalt and her brother James Elder Oswalt.
After graduating from Central High School in Phenix City, Al. Lou went to work for Dr. Jack Hughston and Dr. Richard Dodelin as their Receptionist. She retired with over 30 years of service from the Bradley Center as their Records Management Manager. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Columbus.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Jerry R. Williams of Columbus, Ga., Nieces and Nephews, Ivy (Phil) Harris of Columbus, Ga., Vicky Veteto of Cumming, Ga., Marie (Mike) Harris of Shalimar, Fl., Michael (Sandra) Ellison of Pace, Fl., Jimmy (Linda) Oswalt of Phenix City, Al., Ricky Oswalt of Athens, Ga., many great and great- great nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
The family would like to thank Columbus Hospice and River Towne Nursing Center for their compassion and care during her illness.
