LTC (Ret.) Winston A. Dahl, 83, of Midland, GA died Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
LTC (Ret.) Dahl was born May 14, 1933 in Yellow Medicine, MN son of the late Bert and Dorothy Risk Dahl. He assisted in the writing of the Peace Treaty of Versailles for Vietnam with Henry Kissinger. He coached the U.S. Army Pistol Team from 1973-1975. LTC (Ret.) Dahl was an Airborne Ranger and a Master Parachutist. He was a member of the President's 100 Pistol team and was in the top 50 in the world for pistol shooters. He was a Black Belt in Judo and his hands were registered as lethal weapons.
LTC (Ret.) Dahl loved ice cream and he was a wonderful father to his children.
Survivors include his loving wife, Bobbie Ann Dahl, 5 daughters, Anne Ballentine, Joy Jowers all of Midland, GA, Lynn Maxwell (Don) of Sanger, TX, Kay Carter (Butch) of Hamilton, GA and Bonnie Walker (David) of Troy, AL, 2 sons, Gregory S. Dahl (Tracy) of Marietta, GA and Farley C. Dahl (Kathy) of Seattle, WA, 6 grandchildren, Carson, Haley, David, Jennifer, Cameron and Lisa, and 2 great grandchildren, Justin and Jason.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association 5156 River Rd. Suite M Columbus, GA 31904.
