SFC Rt. Luis Rafael Blanco 89, of Columbus died Sunday, January 15, 2017 at his residence.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held 12:30 P.M. Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
SFC Blanco was born January 30, 1927 in San Juan Puerto Rico son of the late Jose and Anna Maria Blanco. Mr. Blanco retired after 22 years in the U.S. Army serving in Korea and then retired from Civil Service at Ft. Benning for 23 years. He was a member of the VFW and IBEW.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years Ildaura Blanco and children Anna E. Thornton, Louis Blanco (Donna), Aura L. Hemby (Jeff), William R. Blanco and Daniel E. Blanco, one brother Jose Pepin Blanco, sister Hilda Chase 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Columbus Hospice.
