SSG (Ret) Marcelino Alicea-Estrella, 99, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday June 12, 2019 at his residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial with be held 12:30 Wednesday June 19, 2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church with Father Bob Benko officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. A Rosary will be said 6:00 PM Tuesday June 18, 2019 at the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory.
Mr. Alicea was born February 10, 1920 in Puerto Rico to the late Clemente Alicea and Andrea Estrella Alicea. He was retired from the U.S. Army serving in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He also retired from Sears and later retired as Maintenance Supervisor with the Housing Authority here in Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Inocencia Rivera Alicea, a daughter, Luz M. Wright, and a great grandson Kaleb Niebuonrit.
Survivors include his children, Marcelino Alicea, Jr. (Lori) of Lawrenceville, GA, Miguel Alicea (Rhonda) of Box Springs, GA, Marixa Rigsby (Terry) of Newport News, VA, son-in-law, Vincent Wright, Sr., grandchildren, Terry Alicea (Frankie), Stephen J. Alicea, Marcus S. Alicea, Vincent Wright, Jr. (Sheryl), Tina Cutright (Sam), Larry Wright (Lisa), Michael Alicea (Jackie), Brian Alicea, Jason Alicea (Karen), Chris Alicea, Andrea Goodwin (Chris), Lisa Niebuonrit (Yrex), David Rigsby (Karen), great grandchildren, Brittany Robertson (Sean), Holley Alicea, Alex Alicea, Amanda Alicea, Heather Wright, Hali Cash (Kenneth), Zachary Cutright (Brittany), Caitlin Cutright, Maegan Cutright, Tyler Wright, Tori Wright, Kendra Simmons (Harley), Laura Valentin, Scott Wilkerson (Laurin), Emily Alicea, Max Alicea, Jordan Alicea, Kali Alicea Milee Alicea, Abbey Goodwin, Bradley Goodwin, Jacob Niebuonrit, Cameron Niebuonrit, Spencer Rigsby Amilia Rigsby, Benjamin Rigsby, and 19 great great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Columbus Hospice.
