Maria De los Angeles Perkins, 81 yrs old of Columbus, Georgia passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on June 28th, 1945, in Havana, Cuba to Rafael Pineda and Rosario Bello Pineda, she and her sister came to the United States as teenagers and became a woman of aspirations to become a nurse, and became a woman of boundless love, compassion and strength.

To the world she was a mother, daughter, sister, grandmother a great grandmother, and a friend to those she knew. To me, she was my safe place, my first home, my biggest cheerleader and my greatest teacher. She didn’t just raise me; she shaped my heart and my soul to be an independent woman who was capable to love unconditionally and showed me what resilience looks like. She was a member of a village of strong women in our family that put family first and ensured we were taken care of and loved.

Though my heart is broken by her absence, I take comfort in knowing that her love is a legacy I will carry forever in my heart and soul. Thank you for choosing me as your daughter, I will love and miss you for as long as I have a breath.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa Lizano and her husband Albert Lizano, her adored grandchildren Amanda, Emily and Shane. Her great grandchildren Lily, Kloe and Kaydee. She is proceeded in death by Rafael Pineda and Rosario Bello Pineda her parents, her sister Jacqueline Pineda, her daughter Michelle Brammer, and her granddaughter Amber Mollet.
