Marie Louise Bramerel Tilly, 96, of Columbus, Georgia passed away Monday, December 19, 2022.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Marie Louise was born April 12, 1926 in Paris, France to Alexis Adrien Bramerel and Therese Louise Bramerel. She was an only child. Marie Louise was affectionately known as “Mimi” to her family and close friends. She grew up in Paris and the small village of Crozet, France. In 1946, she immigrated to the United States and married Jasper A. Tilly, a young lieutenant she met while he was stationed in France during World War II.
Marie Louise was an excellent home seamstress who lovingly and meticulously made many of her girls’ clothes. She was a voracious reader; always seeking knowledge. She treasured her collection of National Geographic magazines spanning sixty years. Marie Louise also loved Spanish flamenco dancing and enjoyed taking lessons with her best friend Pat Conner. Prominent in her loved ones’ fond memories will be her lifelong frugality and especially her deep love of nature and animals. She leaves behind in her daughter Lisa’s care, her precious dog Lulu.
Marie Louise was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Karen Tilly Jocallaz and son, Allan Mark Tilly. She is survived by daughters Francine Elmore (Grady) and Lisa Tilly (Steve); grandchildren, Kimberly Taylor (Vohn), Grady Elmore III (Alexandria) and Ann Marie Sanders (Ronnie) and great-grandchildren Tripp and Riley Taylor, Mercer and McRae Elmore and Trey and Lily Sanders.
The family wishes to thank Preferred Care Hospice for their kind in-home care of Marie Louise in the last few days of her long life and Fr. Will Cook of St. Anne Catholic Church for his kindness and compassion.
