Martha Eugenia Davis Sherman, born on March 5, 1932, in Bronwood, Terrell County, Georgia entered into eternal rest on June 29, 2026 in Columbus, Georgia. From an early age, she lived a life marked by dedication, integrity, and service to others. After completing high school, she continued her education by developing secretarial skills, which led her to serve honorably with the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) at the Pentagon. After settling in Columbus, she met the love of her life, whom she married in 1963. She established her career and worked for several years as school secretary at Kendrick High School, St. Mary's Elementary School, and Dimon Elementary School. She was also a long time member of Wynnton United Methodist Church.  Martha's life reflected strength, commitment, and grace.  She leaves behind a meaningful legacy of service and devotion.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents: Walter Frank and Tessa Weathersby Davis, her husband, Ray Sherman, her grandson, James Wells, and several siblings.  Martha is survived by her children: Joan Wells (John) and John Sherman (Kim), her grandchildren: Natalie Lawrence (Dustin), Brandon Gacuzana, Mitchell Gacuzana (Dana), Will Sherman, Robbie Sherman, and Megan Sherman, and her great grandson, Waylon Lawrence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, July 17, 2026, at McMullen Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Fort Benning, where she will be interred with her husband. Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, 5:00pm to 7:00pm at McMullen Funeral Home.
