Mary Ellen Fuller, 88, of Cataula, GA died Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Fuller was born December 3, 1928 in Dublin, GA daughter of the late John Richard Hatcher and Irene Nicholson Hatcher. She worked as Secretary to Commander, Dental Corps HQ, Fort Benning, Ga and was awarded several citations including Commander's Award for Civilian Service.
She was actively involved in Community Service including League of Women Voters (President), Cataula Women's Club (President) and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (music director).
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Marvin Otis Fuller, Jr., daughter, Connie Sue Parker, granddaughter, Cassandra Jeanne Allen, and brothers, John Robert Hatcher and Fred Thompson Hatcher.
Survivors include her son, Marvin "Butch" Fuller III (wife, Kimberly Wheeler), Native American foster sons Grant Dial (Gina) and Doug Walker (Aree), granddaughters, Angela Bonner (Mike), Jessica McFarland, Shannon Thompson (James), Stephanie Moseley (Nathan) and Fleming Lester (Jeff), grandsons, Allen C. Fuller (Crystal) and James A. Fuller (Megan), 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 3007 Howard Ave. Columbus, GA 31904. Interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Cataula Women's Club 915 Grey Smoke Loop, Cataula, GA 31808.
