Mary Grier, a cherished member of her community, passed away on January 9, 2026, at Piedmont Columbus Regional. Born on August 16, 1945, in Marion County, she touched the lives of many as an educator in the Marion County School System before retiring to spend time with her beloved family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Spring Hill Baptist Church, 28 Spring Hill Rd, Mauk, GA 31058. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31909.
Mary was known for her warm and caring nature, embodying the roles of a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a long-time member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. Mary deeply valued her family connections and leaves behind three daughters, Michele (Erik) Conyer, Sherri (Ronnie) Wiggins, and Fran (Todd) Reynolds. Mary was also a proud grandmother to her grandchildren Landon Wiggins, Sarah Reynolds, and Emily Conyer, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Mary is survived by her sister, Dianne Elaine Brown, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will carry fond memories of her spirit and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Clide Grier, her parents Major and Vera Miller, and her brothers and sisters. The legacy of love and care that Mary cultivated throughout her life is felt deeply by her family and friends, ensuring that she will always be remembered in the hearts of those who knew her.
Mary Grier's life was a tapestry woven with love, dedicated service, and boundless compassion. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her influence will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
