Mary Jo Smith, 81 of Phenix City died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Earl Ransom officiating. A private interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home 613 14th St. Phenix City, AL.
Mrs. Smith was born August 22, 1930 in Sylacauga, AL daughter of the late Birdie Jeanette Adams Johnston and Johnny Osman Johnston. She was a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church and was a caregiver to others. She loved to work crossword puzzles, work in her garden and read her bible. She loved most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Benjamin Eugene Locklier and Wilbur Ellis Smith and daughter, Peggy Hubbard.
Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Beasley (John) of Smiths, AL and Lisa Locklier of Phenix City, AL; son, Scott Locklier of Columbus, GA; sister, Eva Mae Whiteaker of Wynne, AR; twelve grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
