Melanie Gayle Cervantes, 44, of Cataula, GA died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Vernon Prather officiating. Interment will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery in Cataula, GA. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Melanie was born October 21, 1971 in Columbus, GA to David Michael Lott, Sr. and Gayle Elaine Bunch Lott. Melanie grew up and lived in Cataula, GA. She taught K-3 for many years as a Teacher at Westminster Christian School.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Norma Mayo.
Other than her parents, she is survived by her husband, Charles Kevin Cervantes, son, Austin, grandmother, Virginia Lott Hutchinson, brother, David Michael Lott, Jr. (Lea) all of Cataula, GA, sister, Ashley Greathouse (Dewayne) of Columbus, GA, nephews, Benjamin Michael Lott (Ashley) of Stockbridge, GA, Dawson and Sammy Yates, niece, Madison Yates of Cataula, GA, close friend, Maylinda Hammond, sisters-in-law, Linda Garcia (Bobby) of Grandfield, OK and Carol Holland (Raymond) of Burkburnette, TX, brother-in-law, Frank Fornegay (Rachel) of Columbus, OH.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and volunteers at Columbus Hospice and to the staff of St. Francis.
