Melissa Diane Bass, on December 26, 1954, in Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, in her hometown. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend whose presence brought joy to many.
Melissa's journey through life was marked by resilience and love. As a dedicated copier technician for Kodak, she approached her work with commitment and skill. Though she faced challenges in her later years that affected her communication, her ability to express love never wavered. Despite the difficulties of not being able to complete sentences, she consistently conveyed her affection for those around her, reminding everyone of the power of love through her simple yet profound messages.
A cherished memory for her family, particularly brother, Bruce, was the time spent making homemade french fries together, a testament to the warmth and togetherness they shared. Melissa also found great joy in spending time with loved ones at Lake Sinclair. Her hobbies included swimming, boating, fishing, and taking leisurely rides down dirt roads, which enriched her life and created precious memories with her family.
Melissa is survived by her son, Jay Hayward; daughter-in-law, Michelle Hayward; grandchildren, London Evan Hayward and Charlie Sky Hayward; brother, Bruce Eric Wrenn; sister-in-law, Maryjane Wrenn; and sister-in-law, Karen Bass.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elma Cason Wrenn; father, Charles Clyde Wrenn; and siblings Patricia Ann Wrenn, Linda Faye Wrenn, and Jerry Clyde Wrenn.
Melissa's legacy of love, laughter, and cherished moments will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. Her passing leaves an irreplaceable void; however, her spirit will forever be remembered in the memories she created and the love she so generously shared.
