Michael F. Harkins, 83, of Columbus, Georgia died Sunday May 17, 2015 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home.
A memorial service will be held 4 PM Friday May 22, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia 31907 with Chaplain Mitch Huling officiating. Visitation will follow the services at the funeral home.
Mr. Harkins was born January 17, 1932 in New York, NY. the son of the late Michael C. Harkins, II and Bridget Thompson Harkins. He retired as a teacher with the Muscogee County School District teaching at Carver High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years Lily Sandoval Harkins of Columbus, GA., daughter, Mary H. Falls (Ralph) of Columbus, GA., son, Michael S. Harkins of Atlanta, GA., brother, John J. Harkins (Shirley) of Michigan, grandchildren, Christina Weakland (Josh) of Midland, GA., Christal Fordham of Columbus, GA., great- grandchildren, Trinity and Gavin Harkins and Scarlett O'Hara.
