Michael J. Moore, 66, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA, following a brave and valiant battle with multiple myeloma cancer.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, August 18, 2019 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends and family immediately following the service.

Mike was born December 5, 1952 in Ft. Benning, GA to the late Leonard H. Moore and Frances Edith McCart Moore. For reasons that will forever remain unknown, Mike's middle initial "J" stands for just that, there being no middle name, which sometimes caused him angst when dealing with various government offices, teachers and creditors. Capt. Moore's military assignments afforded the young family of six the opportunity to live in and visit such places as Germany and the Netherlands, providing Mike with many fond lifetime memories.

Mike was a graduate of Columbus High School, Chattahoochee Valley Community College and Troy State University, the latter from which he graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Business at the same time as his wife, Cyndi. He retired from TSYS in February of 2019 after almost 29 years of faithful service. He was thankful and proud to be a TSYS team member and dearly loved his TSYS family. He loved to play golf, especially with his late brother, and had a passion for classic and muscle cars and was the proud owner of a '67 Pontiac GTO, lovingly named Gertrude. He was also a huge music fan, favoring all things Eric Clapton and like artists, whom he enthusiastically listened to during lengthy medical treatments, to the great amusement of his medical providers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Albert D. Long; brother, Leonard H. Moore, Jr. and nieces, Julie Moore and Amanda Leigh Willard.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Cynthia "Cyndi" J. Hipps Moore, sisters, Edith Bradford Moore Merritt (Wayne), and Mary Lavinia Moore Willard (Ken), as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and in-laws. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Mabel Bailey Moore.

Mike was a teddy bear of a man, kind and caring, who was beloved by so many. He was well known for his gift of gab and big booming voice, which often could not be contained, even as Cyndi sometimes tried. His passing leaves a profound and deafening silence in the ears and a huge void in the hearts of those who held him dear.

Special thanks go to Dr. Lawrence Williams, Dr. Suresh Nukala and staff at John B. Amos Cancer Center, as well as Dr. Jonathan Kaufman and medical team at Emory University Hospital. Also, special friends, including Pat and Brenda Elliott, Margaret Adams and Steve Gibson, as well as Mark Hall and Martha Quarles, who all were present at the time of Mike's passing. Heartfelt thanks also go to his sisters-in-law Georgia R. Howard, Dana R. Whaley and an aunt, Judy "Babe" Perkovich for tending to Mike and Cyndi's home when they were at Emory and to Mark and Martha for providing a home base in Atlanta whenever needed. Also, to all the family, friends and neighbors who gave so much love and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to your favorite charity.

Fond farewell and rock on, Mike.
