Michael Stewart Portwood

Michael S. Portwood 60, of Columbus, Georgia died Friday, July 16, 2021 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Beallwood Baptist Church 4650 Veterans Pkwy Columbus, Georgia 31904 with Rev. Billy Duncan officiating. Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be the staff of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mike was born August 28, 1960 in Columbus, Georgia son of the late Anderson Stewart and Carolyn Minick Portwood. Mike was a graduate of Hardaway High School, a U.S. Navy Veteran, a licensed Insurance Agent and a graduate of Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service. For 27 years, Mike served the citizens of Columbus and the surrounding counties and was currently employed as a licensed funeral director at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory where he will be remembered for his sense of humor and compassion he showed to everyone he met, especially the families he had the pleasure to serve. Thank you Mike for everything, we love you and will miss you!

Survivors include his soul mate and love of his life for 37 years Patricia Portwood; sisters, Lisa Portwood Glenn and her husband Michael and Brenda Portwood Kosobucki  and her husband Richard, nieces and nephews, Megan Glenn, Dylan Glenn, Brian Wise and his wife Shannon, Presley Wise and Briley Wise; sister-in-law, Debra Ingram and Edie Easterwood (Denny), brother-in-law Bo Davis (Sherrill) and most importantly Mike and Pat’s fur babies and children Sammie, Choloe and Sparkie.
