Myron Palmer, born on November 10, 1942, in Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025. A devoted family member and respected professional, Myron dedicated 34 years of her life as a secretary at Richards Middle School. Known for her unwavering commitment to her career, she found great fulfillment in her work and cherished the friendships she cultivated with many of her colleagues.
A graduate of Jordan Vocational High School, class of 1960, she embraced the values of hard work and dedication instilled in her during her youth. As a proud secretary, Myron contributed significantly to the school community, and her legacy of diligence and professionalism will be long remembered by those who had the pleasure of working alongside her.
Family meant everything to Myron, and she took immense pride in her loved ones, particularly her grandchildren. She is survived by her son Chris Palmer, her daughter, Kelli Marlowe, and son-in-law, Morgan Marlowe; her grandsons, Palmer Marlowe and Lucas Marlowe; and her granddaughters, Emma Marlowe, Jordan Palmer, and Ashley Palmer. Myron also leaves behind her beloved sisters, Linda Cook and Carolyn Swetnam, along with her brother, Ronnie Rutherford, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Myron was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lucile Rutherford, and her brothers, Greg and Ricky Rutherford.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Ridgecrest Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center for their love and care for Myron over the last 18 months.
The community is invited to pay their respects at the visitation and memorial service to be held at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. The visitation will commence on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. The service will conclude at 12:00 PM, providing an opportunity for friends and family to recall the cherished memories of Myron, whose warmth and spirit touched so many lives.
