Myrtle E. Hyder, 90, of Columbus, GA, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House after a brief illness.
A private interment was held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 6:00-8:00PM at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Hyder was born January 15, 1923 in Columbus, Ga and attended Jordan High School. She was employed by the Bibb Manufacturing Company Industrial Engineering Department for over forty years. She was a member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church, Columbus, GA.
Myrtle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her greatest passions were caring for others, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy was her willingness to serve others and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Hyder was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 65 years; Fred T. Hyder, her mother; Mrs. Johnnie Waldrip, grandmother; Mrs. Maude Green, her siblings and their respective spouses as follows; Fred Bryant (Margaret) of Jacksonville, FL and Walter Bryant, Jr. of Columbus, GA.
Myrtle is survived by a daughter; Susan H. Kent (Gerald) of Columbus, GA, two granddaughters; Tiffany Kent Bonaker (David) of Hamilton, GA and Allison Kent of Columbus, GA, two great-grandchildren; Lauren Elizabeth Bonaker and William Kent Bonaker of Hamilton, GA, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road Columbus, GA 31909.
