Nancy Louise Clegg, 66, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Columbus Hospice, surrounded by the love of her family.
Nancy was born on July 1, 1960, in Fort Benning, Georgia, daughter of the late Carley and Ola Belle Laney Mickle.
Nancy loved the Lord and lived with a strong and abiding faith in Christ. She was a devoted member of Church of the Highlands, where she enjoyed serving others and being involved in her church community. Her faith remained a source of strength, comfort, and hope throughout her life.
Nancy dedicated her entire professional life to the banking industry, where her dedication, strong work ethic, and care for others touched the lives of countless coworkers and customers throughout the years.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Carla Jean Janssen, Judith Bragg Ray, and Catherine Irene Overvold; and her brother, Thomas Hiram Mickle.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, William “Frankie” Clegg; her daughters, Christine Martin (Lee), Billie Plemons, Laura Perkins (Jim), and Carolyn Bigbie, whom she loved as her own; her beloved grandchildren, Michael Ransom, Dylan Smith, Tyler Smith (Caitlin), Carter Rieder, and Cooper Plemons; and a large extended family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her brother, Carley S. Mickle (Chrissy), other extended family, and dear friends.
A memorial service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home in Columbus, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Nancy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
