Phillip Michael Quinn, 69, was born October 29, 1949 to Clarence Emmett & Edythe Bullard Quinn in Asheville, North Carolina. He left this life on December 20, 2018.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Steven M. Quinn & a sister Harriett (Tee) Quinn.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years Sherri Martin Quinn and a beloved son Phillip Hawkins "Hawk" Quinn, a sister Kay Quinn Williams and a niece Kim Williams.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 5th at 2:00 pm at McMullen Funeral Home on Gentian Blvd. Per Phillip's wishes please dress casual & no ties.
There are so many things that can be said of Phillip Quinn - loving, devoted husband & father, deeply loyal friend, extremely gifted singer & guitar player, a man of strong morals. A kind & caring man who always had encouraging words for anyone who was suffering or struggling. An intelligent man with a great understanding of people. But the one word most used to describe him is the word HILARIOUS! He was never too busy to tell some funny, ridiculous joke or story or to sing one of his own crazy songs. So many friends & family have listened to their voice mail or answering machines only to hear one of his crazy songs & end up doubled over breathless with laughter. Even during his worst times in his ill health, he never lost his sense of humor. His intellect & quick wit made him a formidable, natural born comedian. He might get a little "naughty" sometimes but never "mean" with his humor. Even in our grief in losing him we will think of something hilarious he said or did and the tears of sorrow will instantly become tears of laughter. That comforts us.
He left us all better than he found us & we are profoundly grateful. His legacy will not only be his music but teaching us not to take ourselves too seriously & to live life to its fullest, one day at a time. To those who knew him best he will always stand as a true "original" and our most unforgettable character. "Come all without, come all within, you'll not see nothing like the Mighty Quinn". He is the "Mighty Quinn" & always will be!
So fly on Phillip and make the angels laugh up there & we will have our memories of you down here to keep us laughing! As time goes by, we will all catch you on the flip side.
