Ralph S. Gibson
August 23, 1927 — May 18, 2017
Ralph S. Gibson, 89, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday morning.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Roy White officiating. A private family interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
Ralph was member of Living Grace UMC. Ralph served in the Navy and held various banking positions throughout his career including working for the Federal Reserve Bank and as a Bank Vice President. He loved God and served Him well. He taught his family about the Love of God, but more importantly he showed them.
Ralph is predeceased by his wife, Betty George Gibson, his second wife, Mary Alice Gibson, his daughter, Kathie Gibson Cheves, and his brothers, Foster Gibson and Francis Gibson.
Ralph is survived by his brother Roy Gibson of Hapeville, Georgia; daughter Jane Capes/Gary of Columbus, Georgia; stepdaughter Lisy Pegnam/Rod of Columbus, Georgia. He is survived by his grandchildren Eddie Mitja/Mollie of Phenix City, Alabama; Will Cheves/Shawna of Dacula, Georgia; Matthew Cheves/Zarina of Cataula, Georgia; Beth Pritchett of Atlanta, Georgia; Bradley Freeman of Columbus, Georgia; and Nicki Dunn of Columbus, Georgia; and 8 great grandchildren Jason Mitja, Lani Cheves, Jacob Cheves, Chandler Cheves, Landon Cheves, Insley Cheves, David Hoag, and Lily Pritchett.
